Missionaries Nestor and Ivette Medina were with us this morning, and boy, what a great time we had. I was really challenged by the message and by the stories of faith and power. I had the privilege of sharing a couple of meals with the Medinas, so I heard several other stories that they didn't have time to share in the service. All I can say is that my faith has been challenged and strengthened. Let's continue to pray for the Medinas. We're going to resume our current sermon series called Parenthood next Sunday morning. I hope you plan to make every Sunday of the rest of the series because it's going to get good! The Bible has a lot to say on this subject, much of which is being ignored by many parents today. If you want to step up as a parent, coming to this series would be a great way to get started. We're taking a break from our current sermon series this Sunday to welcome Missionaries Nestor and Ivette Medina . The Medinas are missionaries to Nicaragua where they are reaching out to the Mizquito Indians. I'm really excited to have them return to SRC to share of their work in Nicaragua. They will be at SRC for the morning service. It's gonna be good!

We added a new member to our praise team today--Jeremy W. He did a great job on drums, didn't he? The only downside is that he'll only be here for a few more months. Oh well, we'll just have to make the most of it. We started a new series on parenting this morning. Today we talked about how we as parents have the opportunity to affect not only our children, but our grandchildren, and subsequent generations as well. I've been a parent for more than 24 years, and I still have much to learn. With God's help, we'll all learn together over the next few weeks. We are one month away from the start of our fall campaign, Nothing's Too Hard for God . This coming Sunday we will start signing up for small groups. Can't wait! I'm excited about Joey starting college tomorrow, but not nearly as excited as he is. It'll be a great week for him! I've got to be up early tomorrow, so bedtime! Have a great week!

This Sunday morning, we are going to pray for all the students and teachers who will be returning to school next week, as well as those who already started school last week. This is an important service--don't miss it!

I couldn't believe my eyes! I've been enjoying watching the Olympics, especially the track events (my favorite part). But it was hard to watch tonight when the men's 4x100 relay team dropped the baton on the last exchange. And then the women's team did the same thing on the same exchange! That has sermon illustration written all over it!

The study in the book of James has been pretty amazing. It's taken us to so many different places that I believe God wants us to go. Lots of practical teaching there, but also lots of opportunities to simply respond to God's Spirit. Tonight's service was just awesome! I believe God truly ministered to people who really needed a touch from Him. I just enjoyed being in His presence and receiving His grace and power. It was just awesome! What a beautiful rain we've received over the last two days! It's been coming down gently but steadily. Thank you, God! I realize we still have lots of very hot days left this summer, but this fall-like weather was a nice interruption. Last Wednesday at InterMission, I laid out some of the plans for our fall campaign, Nothing's Too Hard for God. All I can say is "Get ready!" I just don't get this at all. Where are the parents? In a Dartmouth Medical School study published this month in Pediatrics , researchers revealed nearly half of children between the ages of 10 and 14 had viewed at least one of a list of extremely violent R-rated movies.
