Without a doubt, Easter is my favorite celebration! I love to preach about the cross and the resurrection. And I love to sing songs about the cross and the resurrection. I love to celebrate the fact that because Jesus conquered death, it validated everything He taught and did. And because he conquered death, my future is always bright! Another reason I love Easter is because it gives us as a church a HUGE opportunity to reach out the unchurched. Many people who don't attend church regularly are open to an invitation to go to church on Easter because...well, because it's Easter, and they have a sense that it's a day to go to church even if they don't know exactly why. I believe we are being negligent if we don't take advantage of this opportunity to invite people to church on Easter! Who are you inviting to Solid Rock Church for Easter?

I hope you're making plans to be at the Christmas Banquet this Friday at 6:00 PM at Nacho's Restaurant. The cost will be $12.50 per person for a beef fajitas buffet. We'll have a wonderful time of fun, food, and fellowship.

This past Sunday was Pastor's Day at Solid Rock. Pastor's Day is a strange combination of joy and embarrassment. I'm always more than a little embarrassed to hear the accolades, but it is always such a great day for the entire church. This year's Pastor's Day had it all--great preaching (no, not me!), a round of Wheel of Fortune, great food and fellowship, and lots of wonderful, thoughtful gifts from our church family. Thank you, Solid Rock Church. I am truly blessed to pastor such beautiful people. Your demonstration of love to me and my family is deeply appreciated, and will never be forgotten.

This past Sunday night, in our Evening Service, we watched a video of a message by Ben Young titled Rethinking Jesus . Ben Young is from Houston but he gave this talk at Fellowship Church last month. I was there that weekend, and was so impressed with the message that I bought the DVD along with a book he wrote titled Why Mike's Not a Christian . In this book, Ben Young gives excellent responses to the excuses some people give for why they are not Christians: It’s true for you, but not for me All Christians are hypocrites Evolution is true The Bible is full of myths All paths lead to God, not just one Ben Young is an excellent apologist who is able to speak at a level that most of us can understand. I highly recommend this book. So getting back to Rethinking Jesus , we are going to watch part two of his talk this coming Sunday evening, August 19th. Don't miss it!

That's right! We're having a CCN satellite seminar for men only this Thursday, August 16th at Solid Rock Church. For Men Only: A Straightforward Guide to Understanding Women will give us men the answers we're looking for. What I can't understand is why it's only one hour long! I'll see you guys this Thursday at 6:30 PM.
